Race: Nord
Name: Exerxes... How original... Hehe
Build: Smithing/2-handed/Heavy Armour/Alchemy with a bit of Speech/Lockpicking/Blocking.

Going all out non-magic, which means I nail anything in the face that isn't wearing robes. Those that do wear robes generally nail me... >.>

I'm already kitted out in Ebony armour, total pain in the ass to find those ingots, and since I'm purposely trying to avoid using magic and bows have had to track down some interesting Dragon Shouts.

They've stuck with the same formula for Vamps that Oblivion had, and that basically sucked and made no sense.

I'm gonna wait until some of the cool Oblivion Vamp mods are converted or someone does a Skyrim one.

In the meantime I'm loving the new Werewolfie, but it does have several annoying features so am looking forward to some half-decent mods for it too!

Maybe someone'll make a nice Hybrid mod, that would be ace!

Lost my Mercurio this afternoon, we had some good times but the Blood Dragon was too much for him. Decided to reload, such was our partnership that even death would not break it.

The wizard in Whiterun castle sells a good selection of spells. In fact every Jarl has a wizard and they all sell decent stuff. I suspect you can only buy spells which you are able to cast, as I've yet to see a fireball or detect life spell.

I cannot stress enough how utterly badass archery is as a skill when combined with stealth, some conjuration and a few restoration spells. I can kill a whole group without them ever seeing me (triple damage yo!), and even if they get in range they'll run into the fire run trap I've placed on the ground. At this point my companion (who has plate armour and a badass two handed sword I made her) lets rip and effectively "tanks" for me, plus I summon a fire atronach. If my companion gets in trouble I have a "healing hands" spell I can use on her which basically lets her get hit over and over without dropping.

Nothing has been able to beat this combination (except stuff obviously waay too high level).

I'm realising now how important enchanting is as a skill, which should link up with your smithing skill. I'm up to 70 smithing skill, so I can make glass armour, but I've not trained my enchanting skill so I can't give my best armour the best enchantments.

Lots of work to do!

The most major change from Oblivion to Skyrim is the leveling system. Perks are a welcome addition but... unlike Fallout 3 some are almost completely useless and get in the way of the perks you actually want/need.

There is also what is known as a 'soft level cap' of 50, whereby past this stage leveling is much, much, much slower. The max cap is 81 with all skills leveled to 100.

So from this you can deduce that you can easily get 49 perks and from there a further more difficult to get 32 perks.

Why am I telling you all this again?... Oh yeah, because I believe I'd be better off picking 5 skill lines and using 10 perks per line. Rather than watering down 10 skill lines with 5 perks in each, or even more...

Enchanting is probably good, and probably works well with Smithing, but if I go that route then what would be the opportunity cost?

I'll hold out for some decent magic resist amulets or rings and keep making magic resist potions.

What I cannot get my head around is that I can't find an enchanter to do this stuff for me as well... >.> I mean you can buy potions, buy armour and weapons, but can't buy a measly enchant for your Dragonbone Helmet?...

I'm playing a Nord, using mainly bows, blade, heavy armor, restoration & destruction. I don't use a companion

I'm in full ebony armor, with a ebony blade and a ebony bow. I'm surprised how long I kept the sword that I got from the Companions. I got everything from loot, chest & quest reward.

I found a Detect Life spellbook. Alteration school of magic. A channeling spell. I can only use it for three seconds before I'm out of mana...

For the main quest, I'm only to the part that I'm supposed to go to Riften. I was on my way, but a drinking contest made me land in Markath. But I'm rather surprised by the events. I thought it would be more cliché. I was surprised to find out who my mysterious friend was and the thalmor bit.
At first I was finding the quest a bit too much of clean that dungeon, go fetch that, ... But I'm starting to find good fun quests. Especially the Daedric quests, you don't always start them at a shrine, and you don't always if you're starting one.
  • Funny things that encountered:
  • a ice mage & a fire mage having a bout in the middle of nowhere
  • the "birth" of a named Dragon while wandering in the wild
  • when I dropped useless items on the ground, a friendly npc gave it back to me "you don't want that to be stolen, do you?"
  • I made friends with an orcish camp
  • I met on the road, my first horse on his way back to Whiterun. I had bought a new one, having lost track of him.
  • Got myself a dog, only companion that I had for a while. But the barking made me, left him at Solitude

Hot tip for you all.

Once you meet the greybeards and do their training stuff, you can go back and see the head one and he'll direct you to a new word of power. You usually have to fight a dragon or explore a dangerous dungeon...but, each time you find a new one, go back and he'll send you after another.

Ps, anyone fought a dragon inside a village yet? It's amazing to see them crash land on thatched roof cottages...THATCHED ROOF COTTAGES!

Well Shandra got her Vampirism at Haemar's Shame its on the South face of the mountain Between Riverwood and Ivarstead, I can't be more accurate that that as it is way off the path. ofcourse that place has another quest linked to it as well.
OK here is a Picture of Shandra :D

She is in Homemade Dwarven Armour/Weapons the glowing eyes dunno if its bugged or what but sometimes it doesn't show I would prefer if they didn't glow, and yes the horses eyes do glow its a horse from a certain quest chain:D oh and yes all of SHandra's stuff is enchanted in some way or another. not got enough in smithing yet to get to the Ebony armour

Quick question with some spoilers
Any one been out to Shearpoint? More importantly did you manage to kill a undead guy called Krossis/Krossos? Can't remember the spelling.
A guard in Whiterun mentioned seeing a dragon head there and the location got added to my map so I fast travelled and managed to kill the dragon there. After killing it I spotted one of those word walls, but when I got close the undead sorcerer pops out of a coffin and wiped me out. After a few failed attempts I realised nothing I threw at him seemed to do much damage. In the end I settled on running for the wall, getting the words then using an invisibility potion to run away.

Obviously running away with my tail between my legs is an unacceptable blemish to my honour and totally unfitting a hero of my stature. So anyone more experienced happen to know a way for me to kill him, or did I just happen to stumble into a fight way out of my league? I'm currently about lv11

Earlier tonight, I was in a very messy dragon fight.
I was on an escort quest when I met Imperial soldiers walking their Stormcloak prisoner and a group of Khajit traders when a Dragon appeared and got everyone involved. It also attracted the attention of two giants, a mammoth, a wolf and a hunter.

I had to try the fight two times over as I seemed to be the prime target and couldn't take the mammoth and the giants after the dragon fight. Okay, I may have spilled a few flames on everyone. People don't like that.

I found it kind of funny when the Khajit were looking at the dragon's dead body, and I walked up and looted right in front of their eyes, just to sell them the loot.

Vel: Most likely you were too low level. There are some tips here for the fight - http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Krosis

Good luck!

Amtath: That dog was for a quest I believe. The dog was handy for a bit but got annoying so I went and completed said quest.

Doon: I am always fighting Dragons in villages! It's actually annoying for me when he lands on the rooftops; how can I axe him from the ground?! Argh! Hehe, though I now have Storm Call, be afraid little puny Dragons, be very afraid.

Well I found the cure for vampirism :D then I became a werewolf continued that quest line to the end found a cure for the Lycanthropy, then I went Vampire hunting again and Shandra Jerro is a Vampire again :D Her soul is really messed up :D

ok the Characters glowing eyes are not related to Vampirism, I have no idea what they are linked to, Shandra Human Glowing Eyes, Shandra Werewolf Glowing Eyes, SHandra Vampire glowing eyes. but some NPC's are commenting on healers needed so the glowing eyes could be related to Restoration.

Oh yeah I like Vampirism as it gets resistance to Ice magic 25%/50%/75%/100% depending what stage your at. downside Weak against fire to the same degree. Now the Best bits Immune to Disease, Immune to poison. (note in stage 4 thats with 100% Ice resistance every NPC in a town attacks you) (maybe my mind is twisted for even trying but you can not feed on Child NPC's, just wakes them up so you can talk)

Werewolf Extra Strength, Immune to Disease, Beast Form, can run fas in beast form using all four limbs, Weak against Silver.

Oh Dragons, what ones have I fought Blood Dragon, Elder Dragon, Frost Dragon, Skeleton Dragon (only in one place not related to main quest I believe), a few named ones I slew one just as it got raised, it was funny, the main dragon carried on talking to it as it died.
