Figured I'd update this again. All the items are now possible to get and you can finish the quest (the darthhater guide is also complete if you want to make it easy for yourself) by finishing the quest you'll get a title depending on faction and who you gave the items to as well as a pet (looks more or less like the transfer pet) and some tokens.
The titles are as follow:
Give items to Chevin: Capable Sentient
Give items to Republic: SIS Freelancer
Give items to Empire: Imperial Loyalist
Of course you can't give to the faction you're not part of. Giving the items to the Chevin gives you 150 dark points while giving to your faction gives 150 light points.
There are still no weapons usable by anyone by agents and vanguards which is a shame but if you are one of those classes I recommend getting yourself a weapon or maybe for a companion if not because bowcasters are awesome.
It's been confirmed that while the sandpeople armour is currently bind on pickup it will be changed so that it will be bind to legacy so you should eventually be able to send one set around between characters. Might be good if you ever need some sandpeople for a RP event I suppose, the chest is pretty neat too.
The pet available also isnt what some thought when looking at the icon, it's not a flying droid.

The speeder is a piece of trash, no really, it has smoke coming out of one of the engines and it's only 90% speed.
The event ends on Tuesday the 23rd and I'd expect that to be early Tuesday morning for us so grab the items while you can.
