Re: PvP and roleplayers...
I like PvP. Fortunately there is not any RP problem with Grao.
Xoana (shadow)
Mortel (scoundrel)
Sennera (sage)
Grao-tak/Grao (gunslinger/vanguard)
Botond (guardian)
Lirian (commando)
Jázmin (sentinel)

Re: PvP and roleplayers...
When there was ever a theme made into a MMO suited for PvP it is SWTOR.
Bioware making it weaved with cinetmatic experience weaved between it.
Almost all RP-PvP servers didnot work .. certainly in months after launch.
This time could work even hold out longer, but i am afraid it will become PvP server in time. PvP for a reason is very fun, like siege or conquer, but it gets a waiste of precious time when i am scavenge junk, Slice data tech with my companion on Tatooine for an hour and get shot in the head by a bored Sith.
PvP is always fun together, when you choose to participate.
Huttball looks great, is fun but over time its the same...
Of course i will aid in PvP, looking for fun, and RP because the Treaty is weak, troubled times we live in...

Re: PvP and roleplayers...
Well, as a guild we've already decided we won't be rolling on a PvP server, so the ganking of our members hopefully won't ever happen unless you go into the small number of open PvP area's.
I just wanted to lay the idea with you all that its ok to be a dedicated RP'er and also love and be good at PvP. It might sound like a no brainer, but I've met dozens of roleplayers who were PvP shy and never gave it a proper go.
The amount of amazing roleplay pvP can generate is amazing. Plus, PvP gets you and your guild noticed and respected in the same way being good at PvE or roleplay does.

I, too, find it strange that a lot of people seem to think you don't like PvP just because you like RP. I wouldn't mind if we rolled on a PvP RP-server, but I guess there are enough arena PvP to keep me happy anyway.
And PvP isn't pointless ganking just to grind for items. As far as I've seen there is as much point to PvP as there is to PvE quests in SWTOR. And even if it's just to compete against other people in Huttball, that's cool as well. Just like people competing against other people just for fun in the real world all the time.

Re: PvP and roleplayers...
As far as I understand it, even RP server people can PvP anywhere just by using the /pvp command. I assume when they do that they'll get flagged on the map, or their names will change colour or something so enemy players can see they are open to PvP.

Though I agree that RP-PVP server will and do end up turning into PvP servers! For me surely it's make the perfect role playing situation. I'm a smuggler running around slicing on tat, and the with see me, In the Real Starwars he would be able to attack me freely! If he felt I was a threat! Not oh the guys grinding I cant attack him cos he's not in a Warzone! It sound totally stupid.Friesian wrote:When there was ever a theme made into a MMO suited for PvP it is SWTOR.

The Consorts Wanted RP-PvP servers in the beginning for the realism on Star Wars, but as they were announced late and we now have allies, we are going to stick with RP servers as they will be moderated (Names etc.) Where they have announced RP-PvP is suggested type and wont be moderated with name rules etc.
To play Star "Wars" is to be at war!

Yes, I also heard RP-PvP servers will only suggest that you use an RP name and that you roleplay. But are you saying RP-servers (I read this as RP-PvE servers) actually will have RP rules and/or names enforcement? I have not heard this confirmed myself, but it would be nice.Magnox wrote: The Consorts Wanted RP-PvP servers in the beginning for the realism of Star Wars, (...) we are going to stick with RP servers as they will be moderated (Names etc.) Where they have announced RP-PvP (...) won't be moderated with name rules etc.

Re: PvP and roleplayers...
Bioware have, in a sideways manner commented that they won't be enforcing roleplay rules on RP servers, but they will try to make it plainly obvious what is expected of people who choose those servers. It's anyone's guess how dedicated the Customer service team will be on naming issues.Yoonbak Onath wrote:Yes, I also heard RP-PvP servers will only suggest that you use an RP name and that you roleplay. Bottom line for me, we are focussed mostly on RP, so the server choice picks itself. We don't need a PvP server to PvP 24/7, but we will need an RP server if we want lots of RP..just be flagged for PvP all the time and you'll get attacked, trust me.

I'll be under attack from two rodents (chinchillas, sadly not Jawas) throwing a variety of projectile weapons at me while I'm sat at my desk and that is more than enough for me. Nothing like trying to concentrate in an instance while critter poo pings off your glasses >.>Magnox wrote:To play Star "Wars" is to be at war!
It's a shame RP rules aren't going to be enforced but then again, avoiding numpties might be a bit easier if they're clearly labelled as DarthYoda and xXxSeXysLaVeLeIaxXx
