EDIT: I think that part of it is thanks to the keyboard being designed for the ability to output correctly almost unlimited simultaneous keystrokes. Had we done this game 10 years ago I guess there would have been cleaner results (or possibly none at all, or crashes) and more beeping from the internal PC speaker
