One PC dead

Thought I would update you again, I did what they asked, well it shutdown due to overheating which ever hard drive was plugged in, so conclusion is motherboard is caput. Means new PC, can't't afford that until middle of October.

That's a shame.

You don't need a new PC though do you? Just a new motherboard. If your warranty has been out for 9 months I'm guessing you've had it for at least 21 months now, getting the same motherboard should be fairly cheap then if you can find one considering it's an "old" one.

I was thinking a new one would be better, that way I will get a new warranty, may then even pay for a three year one will browse around, likely go for alienware again *shrug* they are pricey but they are built well, will also get a new anti-surge power cable as the old one doesn't seem to work :s

Also no guarantee that it is just the motherboard.

Have you built a PC yourself before? If you have, you should go for that unless there is a reason you don't like to, if you haven't, well you should do that
You'll likely be able to build a PC that has the specs Alienware but costs less and with a less fugly case

Lol, let's just say this, in the last 3 years I have somehow managed to short out the following electrical items after cleaning or using:-

Microwave, Oven, Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Toaster, Heating Boiler, Hot Water boiler, some of these things multiple times.

So building my own PC may be frustrating as bits go pop while installing, even with anti-static precautions :s, in my experience when my mums laptop broke Dell's technical support were very helpful. Alienware build quality is very good.

Huh, OK, maybe you should buy one assembled with that lyuck. And here I was almost thinking those anti-static armbands is just crap without actual function they try to sell you to get more money, you know, kind of like gold plated HDMI cables . I have one but I've used it like once and I've built several complete PCs and regularly do "maintenance" in my computer, never had a problem...

After much financial wrangly, I have ordered the new PC, it's a monster, but I think it is best that I don't post its specs here.

Well um the old one was a monster, the new one makes it look like an old PC, once I get it I will post the specs, although delivery is expected around 17th October, most likely before that though

Intel i7-3930k (6 Core, 12MB Cache) 4.1Ghz
16GB (4×4GB) 1600MHz DDR3 Quad channel
1TB RAID 0 (2× 500GB, Solid State Hybrid, 7200RPM)
8× Blue-Ray RW (Blue-Ray, DVD, CD read & write)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 690 4GB Video RAM
HDA 7.1 Dolby Digital capability
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
3 year warranty plus an extra year free.
LAN functionality shows as wireless, so may remove my Xeno LAN card from the old PC to get wired connectivity.

Like I said its a monster, so gaming will be nice and smooth, will also take up 3D rendering with Daz 3D again. Assuming the hard drives on the old PC are functional (as they are an identical type to the new ones drives) I will install them as well, giving me 2TB Hard Drive space in total so 1TB for non gaming stuff and the other for gaming.

Wow :O that's an amazing machine!
Well, the name on the Nvidia card tells me absolutely nothing considering I usually use ATI, it's a digit shorter than what they used just a few years ago, that I know, but I'll guess that it's a monster too considering the amount of ram on it...

So, is that an alienware? Care to link if it is?

Wish I could get a machine like that but I have to aim for more midrange stuff, does what it needs to pretty well for a considerably lower pricer
