Okay, I propose an RP event during which we freeze Hawley in carbonite, cut off Thrakkie's hand and dress Doon in a metal bikini! Epic stuff!
We just call that "Friday Night". Come on in the water is lovely.

Ps, I started another thread with my own wacky theories on good RP...it echoes a few of Hawley's points, or rather he copied mine.

*cough*

Wotcha everyone,

Quite possibly, JenDoon. I am a terrible plagiarist. Or a rather good one, dependant on your point of view.

What's more likely is that I just didn't notice your posts (I am surprisingly oblivious at times), and we both have remarkably similar views on what consists of good game, and bad game.

I prefer to think of it as that. ;)

Cheers,
Hawley.

So this is me being all new and uninitiated on RP in a MMO, but how would one for example turn a PvP-arena match into a potential RP event? Please, enlighten the ignorant one.

Well, RP inside PvP is probably the most delicate thing we roleplayers have to deal with, especially when not everyone you are PvP'ing against, or with has signed up to RP with you.

Ideally, post launch we'll sort out a few sith guilds to have roleplay based guildwars with (I'm already in contact with 3) and so the idea of doing RP based PvP matches isn't unthinkable. Without that, really it comes down to who you are with. I used to RP in Starwars Galaxies, even whilst PvP'ing, but it's limited. You don't have alot of time to write, just like in a real combat situation talking is a premium. What used to happen is we'd roleplay before, try to RP in short sentences during and meet afterwards for a "debrief", and roleplay that.

It's still quite tricky, even more so in a game that has stealth attack mechanics. We'll do it though.

ps, you aren't ignorant.
