Re: Kids reaction to Empire Strikes Back reveal
I never wanted kids, but now I'm tempted to make some and make them watch SW just to see the expression on their faces!
Awesome clip!!!
I watched the original trilogy in reverse order, as I was only old enough to watch Return of the Jedi when it was released in the theaters. So I knew about the father thing when I finally got to watch Empire (on Betamax tape, I think), ruining everything for me. In retrospect, I think I'll go jump off a cliff now. Bye folks! Was fun!

I had it (and still do) on VHS tape *sniff*
although it was Russian translation as almost no movies were translated to Georgian and I could not understand English well enough to watch movies until my mid-teens or something. You could however hear English pretty clearly so I can't say it ruined anything.
I don't know if kids can watch original SW as it might appear not shiny enough for them. I bet 100% prefer clone wars which is beyond terrible.

Re: Kids reaction to Empire Strikes Back reveal
Our little daughter watched only the original trilogy. Her favourite is the last part because of the ewoks. She just grabs on my or Pata's hand and pulls it in front of her eyes at the scary parts, and this part was scary for her. For her a father to be scary and fighting with you is still unimaginable.

I was under my father's coat during half of the film, because it was too frightening, but I loved the films (I was four, because In Hungary we could see the film only in 1982).

I was so small when I first saw the movie that I can't remember anything at all about it
It just feels like I've always known the movie, and never actually saw it for the first time.

Those kids, and all the kids mentioned by parents in this thread, will grow up to do great, great things.
"I do not blame the Kurtzen for the death of my parents, I blame the Sith. For it was them who drove my parents to retreat to this planet. I swear, I will see them brought justice" - Tenzin speaking at his parents funeral.

Re: Kids reaction to Empire Strikes Back reveal
I try and try, but no matter what, my nine year old daughter will not watch any Star Wars films. I don't think she realizes how much this pains me, it hurts me right down to the core. I watched the first Star Wars film at the flicks with my Dad when I was seven. She just wants to watch that Potter and his cronies. He has so much to answer for...

Re: Kids reaction to Empire Strikes Back reveal
To watch Potter my Lili has to be older, I wouldn't let her see the Star Wars either, but when I noticed she was watching it with Pata, and then I thought it's better for her to see all the 3 parts (4-6). But I still think she was too young. (between 4 and 5 at that time). I hope we can convince her to watch it when she is older and won't be afraid from it because of the first time.
