Light side vs dark side points

Let me hear your taughts. Big part of the story evolution of your character are the decisions we make how to interact. Awarded with Light or Dark points. I know there will be some sort of "stuff" one can get based on it. But will this system be more cosmetic or effect gameplay and to what level?
I read an article on the web on one of these fan SWTOR fan sites, but cannot find it again. He made an interesting point. It comes down to this a bit.
What if these decision you make are not as free as it sounds. What if it effects your character on a bigger scale ingame? You build up your trooper to a great commando type character with slightly dark side, just below greay area. You perform well midgame end stand well in end game areas, flashpoints. But after months of playing the word gets out on the effects of light/dark points system. Peeps see that a full LIGHT points commando is most effective and suddenly you are not invited anymore as parties only seek full light commandos. And yes there will be many micro power game type players out there. It leaves yo with a character that.... Imagine your a full greay point player, hard time to get into groups. Then the choices you make are not that free anymore.
Also wonder with some, sorry sorry, Spock logic if commando will be light based plus and vanguard dark point plus. Probably other way around but you get the picture for all 16 classes.
And yea, I need know more before launch about this as its bit annoying if...

Firstly I have to say that the powergaming/min maxing attitude some people have is completely irrelevant on an RP server.
Regardless. TKM will not be grading you on yours or anyones affinity when it comes to PvE. RP obviousley carries with it it's own snares in regards to how you act and react to each other.
I didn't get my beta character to max affinity so I cannot state one way or another how it affects the mechanics. (especially not without getting a perma ban).

Hehe, yes whole point sounds pointless on rp-pve server. Even more as part of The Kestrel Minority. But it somehow bothers me a tiny bit as i had to reroll characters for things like this in other games. GW1 nowadays (returned to it after years) is even worse when you dont know what the acronyms mean or even dont have that one skill! you get kicked from party without even told why, lol.
And i just want to know ... hehehe. Probably have more fun not knowing.

I will make the point that your affinity is not set in stone and you can always go the other way if you want to. Even after a lifetime of grinding LS to max.

I'm guessing that the good people behind SWTOR are clever folks and by the looks of it, their approach to the MMO is in line with that of WoW in some regards, first and foremost, it looks as if you will only make one choice that will defining and not changable at all and that is your class, race and allegiance to the republic or (gods forbid) the empire.
Whatever the mechanics in game will be, I think it will be viable to have any combination of Lightside/darkside points.

They have confirmed (do the searching yourselves) that lightside/darkside points do NOT bring with them any combat bonus, and the amours and weapons which do require a certain morality ratio are not any better than items you can get that are morality free.
However, they just announced that people who go down the route of the darkside will have their appearance effected negatively, though this can be turned off in options. So far, no changes if you go full lightside which I'm currently debating against.
In terms of morality and roleplay. I understand Jen'doon, my character to a pretty high level now so I'll be making decisions based on who he is, and not what rating I want.

I also fully expect to be making decision based on my character and not in regards to what morality ratio I want, I would find it fun if I ended op in the grey area possibly leaning towards darkness, cause, well the character is supposed to be a bit off balance.

..execute..order...69 dude!
I expect it to be quite hard for Jen'doon to ever be fully lightside, mostly due to..romantic entanglements, but we'll have to see.
If his love is pure, I'm sure the light will flow through him!

If the light side appearance thing (should there be one) is sparkly, I'll be making youngling confetti until it goes away.

I made the suggestion on the TOR forums lightside Jedi who go full good...could perhaps get a special aura when they heal themselves and others.
Or, a very slight glow to their eyes when they use the force.
