Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Post by Jens Jutoon »

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim comes out on 11th November this year. Is anyone getting this?

I'll be getting it come release day for my PS3. It's the only game I've pre-ordered this year apart from SW:TOR, and it's the only game I'll be playing on the lead up to when SW:TOR launches. I just love these sort of games and can't wait to get back into the Morrowind Universe. There should be plenty to keep me busy in the game until I land in Star Wars somewhere.

So, is anyone else going to be exploring Skyrim?

We were thinking about it but at last didn't order it, I'll have no time, if I want to play SWTOR, then I have to do the shopping, and painting, and making presents for Christmas before it comes out. Still tons of things will remain, what as a mother I can't skip, but at least I'll save the time what I spend with handmade gifts, and if we'd buy it I won't, and would be mad at myself when SWTOR comes out. :(

Amen brother.

I'm all over this game like a rash.

I've been waiting on this since Oblivion got boring, which is years ago. If they can capture the atmosphere and depth of Morrowind, and combine it with the polish and combat mechanics of Oblivion, plus a few Fallout 3 charms, it might just be the game of the year..and next year too.

I may even forget about SWTOR beta come 11.11.11

So yes, I'm getting it. I have 4 days off work for it's release. I won't sleep for 4 days.

Skyrim? Hells yeah! Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Oblivion, Morrowind is still one of my favourite games. So here's hoping they'll capture some of that charm this time.

Plus the dragons looks sweet.

I will be getting it, as I buy most western AAA RPGs. Morrowind was pretty good, Oblivion was not very good. My biggest issue with Oblivion was that all character interaction was shallow, and that it was dumbed down and consolified too heavily, even though I played the PC-version. The menus were made for controllers and TV-screens, not keyboards and high resolution monitors. However, bogging down the game in hundreds of mods finally made it somewhat enjoyable.

I've seen the menus of Skyrim, and they look more like an in-game encyclopedia than gameplay menus:

Hopefully the free roam (I love free roam), story, setting and atmosphere will make up for it (I may even like the menus when I play the game, though).

I'll probably buy it eventually but Oblivion's put me off a lot. The controls just felt so clunky and weird, on both the PC and PS3 that I couldn't bring myself to play it much.
