Eben started a very nice thread about a Belgian band - and i have been tempted too much, to actually go "yeah - but what about THESE guys".

So, i thought - instead of hi-jacking Eben's thread (Sorry Eben, i know i kinda almost already did), we could use this one, for......... EVERYTHING concerning music.

You heard something great and want to share, you have been collecting a certain band since forever, you just bought "the new best thing", you are looking for new inspiration. Anything, really, goes here.

And to make things a bit more interesting, we could even add a few personal stories about music taste and concerts or other stuff - to get to know "where the other guys are coming from".

To kick things off - i will go first (and if no one else posts after me, know you will totally make me embarrassed, and i will put on my sadpandaface, and go sulk in the corner).

Most money spend on: Marillion/Fish.
I got several versions of most of the old stuff (Fish era), and most of Fish' own albums. There are lyrics squeezed out of this tall Scotsman you just can't imagine where he get's from.

Last concert: Roger Waters - the Wall.
Holy crap. The guy could be my dad, if not my grand dad. But this show - the Wall. Wauw. I saw Roger many years ago on his "in the Flesh" tour, but the Wall. Seriously, word's can't describe it.

Last CD bought: AneBrun - It all starts with one.

I realize this might be "too soft" for some. But there are depth to these tunes, especially if you give them time to grow. Plus - her voice could put fresh icecubes in your Rusty Nail while you heat yourself in front of the fireplace.

How amazing was the wall. Seen it when it was in london last year. And it was the most amazing thing ive seen. Musical, visualy amazing.

I had seen war of the worlds live, and thought that was the best live show i had seen. But the wall was trully amazing.

My personal fave song from it. "Blue sky"

I would be hear alnight going over my odd taste in music, jazz to rock, dance to clasical, soundtrack to punk. Big fan of queen, got every album on the pc. Closlly followed by daft punk. But if i had to choose a song, that always makes me smile, and brings back some amazing memorys. It has to be this song

Ibiza, sat at sugar sugar listening to this as the sun sets. Moment will stick with me for my life.

I have periods where i have enjoyed most music... the only ones i never really got on with was Rap (apart from the fresh prince of bell air theme haha) and norsk death metal.. i went to a night in a basement on the south coast and a) didnt have long enough hair and b) my gutteral cry was not loud enough or full of pain and anguish!

so ive chosen 4 that normally stop me in my tracks and make me think of days gone by

#1
Shine on you crazy diamond

Elderly women behind the counter in a small town
Always loved pearl jam, inspired my guitar/drumming days. this one always seemed the Black Sheep, and for that i loved it more!

#4
Pieces
Hated this when it first came out.. then realised how clever this tune actually is and love it now... plus they always seemed to play this on hard rock nights and everyone when crazy!

Edit: Just reading a few posts on here about war of the words reminded me of a song i love... War of the Words is amazing at conjouring up such imagary..

so #5

Some epic song choices, and so restrained! Max choices is 5, I was expecting a 50 pink post that I could instantly ignore!

Malgunn, we're like music twins!

I'll hold back and follow the OP's selection catagories.

Most money spend on: Marillion/Fish.

Queens of the Stoneage.

I play drums, guitar and a bit of bass/piano and almost every song they write, I wish I'd wrote and I get how and why they did it. Plus Josh Homme is beyond cool. Here is a couple of their songs

Better Living through chemistry

How to Handle a Rope

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1EvGc1A ... re=related

Last concert: Django Django

Saw these guys a few weeks ago in Edinburgh. Didn't know a single thing about them and now I'm buying up everything they've done, which is only one EP..I'm stalking them online to get first dibs in their album though!

Waveforms

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2dOW3ztvfs&ob=av2e

Last CD bought: "Drive - The soundtrack

I saw this movie about a month ago and loved it. So much style, so much unsaid and Ryan Gosling is amazing as the anti hero who almost never speaks. The soundtrack is uber cool and really adds to the driving scenes.

A real hero - college feat electric youth.
